Dental prostheses are artificial teeth used to correct the teeth of people whose natural tooth structure has deteriorated or to complete the missing teeth due to different reasons. Applied dental prostheses not only contribute to the health of the dental tissues, but also provide an aesthetic appearance and allow the teeth to fully fulfill their functions. Today, dental prostheses that can be applied to individuals of all ages, men and women, aim to restore the lost chewing function, facial aesthetics and phonation.

The reasons for tooth loss include not treating gingival diseases in a timely manner and losses resulting from accidents. Losses due to all these reasons are eliminated with dental prostheses offered in different types, and more aesthetic and functional teeth are gained instead of lost teeth. Dental prostheses also provide psychological support to the patient due to the elimination of such problems.

Types of prosthetic treatment applied:

• Fixed prostheses: It is a type of prosthesis that is attached to teeth with advanced material loss such as tooth decay and fracture, and teeth/teeth that cannot be attached and removed by the patient for any reason. Fixed dentures (veneers) can be made on a single tooth (crown) or connected to more than one tooth (bridge).
• Movable Partial Prostheses: These are prostheses made of plastic and/or metal and can be attached and removed by the patient, supported by teeth and palate, in the absence of one or more teeth. The retention of these prostheses is provided by specially designed hooks (clasps) or precision retainers that come to the teeth in the mouth.
• Complete dentures: Prostheses made of plastic and/or metal supported by tissues and removable by the patient in the absence of teeth in the upper and lower jaws.
• Overdenture prostheses: Prostheses made on natural teeth or tooth roots or implants.
